Avon & Somerset Watch

News, information and resources for Neighbourhood Watch schemes across the Avon & Somerset areas of Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire

Welcome to our website

We are a Neighbourhood Watch Association, part of the Neighbourhood Watch Network the national umbrella organisation for Neighbourhood Watch, which is a grassroots charitable movement working to build communities and prevent crime.

We are part of the largest volunteer-led crime prevention charity in England and Wales with 2.3 million members.

We are here to support our communities, supporters, members, and Coordinators within Avon & Somerset. We are run by locally based volunteers and our role is to support and develop Neighbourhood Watch within this area.

At present there are 75 regional areas with approximately 63 Associations in both force areas and London Boroughs

We play a vital role in coordinating the growth and expansion of our movement in Avon & Somerset.

Neighbourhood Watch Network, the national body for Watches across England and Wales, liaises with us regularly to keep us up to date with new developments and guidance relating to our role. We share relevant information with our Coordinators and members and oversee developments of groups across their area.

We will eventually provide practical support to our Coordinators by distributing window stickers, supporting the local supply of Neighbourhood Watch signs, giving advice and supporting local promotional events.

We also liaise with Avon & Somerset Police and other partners to support community safety initiatives. We circulate, or ensure the provision of, up to date information on crime and local priorities to our Neighbourhood Watch coordinators and members to assist with their crime prevention activity.

Our Motto

Empowering Coordinators - we aim to be a friend to scheme Coordinators.
Supporting Police - our organisation will assist our strategic partners, Avon and Somerset Police.
Helping Community - we are committed to increasing the number of schemes in the Avon and Somerset region.
